Ankles

It's amazing how jogging can make you keenly aware of your ankles. This morning I got out of bed and my ankles screamed at me to get off them already and who do I think I am?

I had a swim scheduled, but as I hobbled the 5 feet from my bed to the bathroom I made an executive decision to rest my weary bones and muscles. And tendons and ligaments.

Eventually I will be able to work out 4-5 times a week, but I'm trying to listen to my body and ease into it so I don't get injured this time around.

Smart to listen to your body. Now it's the annoying balancing act of deciding when you can push through the discomfort without making it worse, and when you really do need to rest it.

You may find that some moderate movements actually make you feel better than completely resting it. I've been having some trouble with my ankle lately, and it hurts the most in the mornings when I first get up and when I've been sitting for a long time during the day. But once I start walking around during the day, it feels a lot better. (Now the steroids my doctor gave me this week have helped quite a bit, too.)

Ouch! Listen to your body or it will take its revenge somehow. Hope the ankles feel better soon. Ice, Ice Baby.

Deborah, yeah walking around some does loosen up the muscles and help a little. But there is still definite pain. I'm going to try day 2 of the C25K tomorrow morning so we'll see how that goes.

MB, thanks!
