Pre-Workout Snack

80 laps this morning. I did a slightly modified version of a Swim Plan workout, which totally kicked my butt. In a good way. I will definitely be using those workouts since they push me hard.

I think I need to eat more before my workouts. An apple was holding me for the elliptical, but for swimming I need something more substantial. By the time I got to work (where I eat my breakfast) I was feeling light-headed. Swimming definitely burns more calories than the elliptical. I seriously don't know how people work out on a completely empty stomach. I would pass out.

Any suggestions for a pre-workout snack that has more calories than an apple (about 80 calories), but is quick?

You could add some peanut butter to it - that has some nice protein and fat to hold you over. I like to do a Luna bar or something too pre-workout, that always seems to do it for me and it's quick and easy.

Yummm, good idea! I love apples and peanut butter and can easily dip the apple slices in some peanut butter before I eat them as I'm getting ready for the gym.

I used to eat Luna bars too, but got into the habit of apples when I was doing the detox. I think I have some Luna bars somewhere...

I like putting peanut butter on a Wasa crispbread as a pre-workout snack. I can't eat apples not with a meal, because they have the odd effect of making me hungrier.

I'm a big Wasa bread fan too. For me, the apple works because it gives me a quick natural sugar burst.
