What's That About?

A friend of mine was telling me about this new book she just bought about a de-tox diet she's going to do. Basically you only eat lots of fruits and veggies for 7 days, fast for a day, and then do a couple more days of fruits and veggies. No gluten, sugar, caffeine, etc.

I would worry that I would never be full during my detox. A lot of times I bring a ziploc bag of carrots to work and munch on them in the afternoon. While they definitely satiate that whole bored eating thing without being too high in calories, they never touch my hunger. In fact sometimes I feel more hungry after I eat the carrots. Are carrots one of those things where you expend more energy eating them than they actually contain?

Personally, I'd me more afraid of intestestinal issues than being hungry....but that's just me.

And I don't think that you burn more calories eating carrots than the carrots contain...they are loaded with sugar...celery might take more calories to digest than they actually have in them...but blah on eating a ton of those.

Well, it IS supposed to be a detox diet. I think intestinal issues are a given side effect. Ew.

I think I have heard that about celery now that I think about it. But carrots seriously do absolutely nothing for my hunger.
